LEEDS CASTLE ‘the loveliest castle in the world’

Leeds Castle is in the county of Kent near the town of Maidstone. The castle has a large moat (douve) which forms a lake. It is a popular habitat for white and black swans and ducks.

There is a gigantic park with gardens, a maze (labyrinthe), a shell grotto, and a golf course. There are falconry demonstrations with vultures,

owls (hiboux) and other falcons.

Inside the castle there are beautifully furnished rooms including a banqueting room, a library, a study and state bedrooms with dressing rooms. You can also visit a dog-collar museum.

It is possible to sleep on site in a « Knight’s Cottage » There are tents equipped with a bed and a wood stove (poêle), ideal for living like knights in the past.

The castle is considered the most romantic castle in the world so it is possible to organize weddings (mariages) here.
